Elder Emeritus

Gene Wakeman was recognized as an Elder Emeritus on January 1, 2021, after serving faithfully as an elder at NC4 since 1996.  He continues to be called upon for his wisdom in the strategic decisions of the church.  Gene has overseen discipleship efforts at NC4 and his wife, Diane, leads the Alpha program and our Backpack Buddies program which provides food every weekend for 65 at-risk children at a local public elementary school.  Diane also oversees the Fellowship Hall kitchen and together they are Connect group leaders.

Gene holds a BS in Physics from Houghton College.   He has worked as a researcher and educator and currently teaches science at Notre Dame High School where is also the boys’ tennis coach.

Gene and Diane reside in Hellertown, PA.  They have a combined total of six adult children and twelve grandchildren.  In his spare time, Gene enjoys tennis, golf, and hunting.
