Global Missions

NC4 financially supports several global partners with a high-contact, relational approach. These missionaries proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ in a variety of transformative ministries on five continents.

  • Sharon Malcolm (Peru)

Sharon Malcolm has been a member of NC4 since 1981. In 1999, she responded to a missions call and went to serve in Guatemala for 7 years, moving to Peru in 2006, where she is currently serving. Sharon works tirelessly in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, conducting bible and discipleship training in conjunction with practical community development work. Her current focus is along two jungle rivers where she and her local team join with teams from the States to help improve the quality of life for the villagers by building water purification systems that help increase life expectancy by 20 YEARS, externally vented stoves in huts, teaching more effective farming techniques, and providing immunizations and de-worming medicines for children. These projects meet some very real physical needs and are the pathway for evangelism and discipleship to the indigenous people, many of whom have never heard the gospel, creating an environment for total community transformation.

  • Kent & Mary Alice Martin (UK)

    Betel of Britain

Kent & Mary Alice Martin have been members of NC4 since its very beginning, when it was meeting as a home group over thirty years ago. They became part of the Betel International leadership team in Madrid, Spain in 1991 and served there until 1996, when they were sent out to be Directors of Betel of Britain, which in 2016 will celebrate their 20th year in the UK, offering Hope and Recovery to the Addicted & Homeless. Under their leadership, Betel UK has grown from one location to 16 residences located in eight cities in the UK & Ireland, currently housing over 300 men and women free of charge. Betel centers operate businesses that support the program and plant churches as an outgrowth of these transformed lives. They have also planted Betel centers in the Czech Republic, India and South Africa, which they also oversee.

  • Hope Outreach International Ministries (Cameroon)

    Hope Outreach International Ministries (HOIM)

HOIM is a Christian, non-profit organization dedicated to Evangelizing the lost through gospel crusades, camps, conferences. HOIM was founded by Julius Esunge, a native of Cameroon, West Africa. Early in his life, Julius accepted God’s call to become a minister of the gospel. He ministered within several of Cameroon’s churches and para-church organizations before moving to the United States.

In 2005, along with the leaders of the church he and his family attended in Bethlehem, PA (NC4.org), Julius and a team of missionaries began conducting annual mission trips to Cameroon, ministering at orphanages, prisons and higher education campuses, and organizing seminars and conferences for local church and ministry leaders.

In March 2007, with the blessing of the Elders at The Chapel on the Campus (where Julius and his family were fellowshipping at the time), HOIM was officially launched and incorporated in Baton Rouge, LA. The organization’s first official mission trip to Cameroon took place in August of that year. HOIM is governed by a Board of Directors comprising professionals in the fields of Science, Medicine, Letters, Fundraising and Business.

This August (08/15), HOIM finished training nearly 70 leaders in Cameroon. In addition, they were able to minister to the Mayor, a Senator and over 2000 persons at evangelistic services. Julius and the team visited the construction of Hope Academy (opening in June 2016)– a model Christian school that will extend the ministry by training disciple-making disciples of Jesus Christ and assessed progress with the Hope Farms by which many orphans, prisoners and widows are feed.

Julius & family will be personally serving in Cameroon from Dec 2015 to July 2016. While serving as a visiting professor at the University of Buea, other areas of focus will be:

    – Disciple civic and community leaders via a prayer breakfast holding every fortnight;

    – Host a weekly teaching and discipleship seminar for students and key leaders;

    – Oversee the completion of work on the building of Hope Academy, and hiring of staff.

Julius’s prayer requests: “Here are some ways you could be involved in making an eternal impact:

Please commit to pray regularly for us during these months of preparation, and our time in Cameroon. At your request to hopeoutreach@gmail.com, we can send our prayer letter.

Please ask the Lord if He would have you make a financial investment towards the ministry initiatives. You can make a tax-deductible gift online at www.hoim.org or by making a check payable to HOIM, P.O. Box 8504 Fredericksburg, VA, 22404.

You could also share this letter with your friends, your small group or those in your circle.

Thank you very much for making a timely investment towards a huge harvest of souls.

  • Elliott Tepper (Spain)

Elliott Tepper, Director and Founder of Betel International.

In 1985, Betel (Spanish for Bethel) began in Spain in the inner city barrio of San Blas, Madrid when a small group of WEC International missionaries began to care for the needs of a few drug addicts and marginalized people. Since that time more than 100,000 homeless and socially disadvantaged have been helped throughout Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, France, Central Asia, Australia, Ukraine, Mexico, USA, Russia, Finland, Bulgaria, N Africa, Czech Republic, Ireland, Mongolia, Argentina, Brazil and the UK. Betel residences host more than 2,000 recovering men and women in 80 cities in 21 nations. What began as a spontaneous response to a pressing social need in one local neighborhood has developed into a coherent, practical and proven program that has brought deliverance to thousands of individuals from many cultures who have struggled with substance abuse and addiction.

  • Fellowship of the Redeemed Ministries (Philippines)

    Pastor Loreto and Judy Tarlit

In 1984 Pastor Loreto and his wife Judy started a free self-help technology-training center for the poor out-of-school youth and unskilled jobless adults. Their hearts are to help these individuals learn skills that will lead to jobs while teaching them the fear of the Lord that will give them success and a new life in Christ. In January 2012, they created a Discipleship & Vocational Development DVD to train young people from local churches for the purpose of making disciples, fruitful followers and loyal laborers of the Lord.

  • International Chapel Ministries (Japan)

    Chris & Nancy Momose

International Chapel Ministries (ICM) is a conservative Evangelical, Protestant, and Bible-teaching group of churches begun in the Kansai area of Japan in 1981.

International Chapel has churches in two locations: Kyotanabe City (Kyoto Prefecture) and Ikoma City (Nara Prefecture). Currently, there are two pastors serving the two Chapels.

Each Chapel is bilingual. The music and message of each worship time are in both English and Japanese. ICM tries to create a warm, friendly environment for both English and Japanese speakers, as well as provide a bilingual environment for those wanting to improve their language skills. Professional teachers teach English conversation to those who want to study before the worship services.

ICM’s goal is to bring the message of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ to those living in Japan, regardless of nationality, and to train them to be committed followers of Christ who are able and willing to share in spreading the same message to the people around them. ICM believes that every Christian has some special gift given by God for service in the local church, and their desire is to train those who come to our Chapels to develop and use their gifts in the Church and in their vocation.

ICM is a lay movement, fully independent of overseas control. Its doctrinal roots go back to the 16th-century Protestant Reformation.

Community Outreach

We believe every Christian is on mission with God, beginning in our local communities. Here are some of the local initiatives we partner with to bring the hope and love of Jesus.

  • Bright Hope

For over 15 years, NC4 has partnered with Bright Hope, supporting families across the Lehigh Valley. Bright Hope provides free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and options counseling, along with services including a maternity home, Medical Mobile Unit, community education, and a resale store.

    Baby Bottle Campaign

Bright Hope’s annual Baby Bottle Campaign runs from Mother’s Day through Father’s Day, raising awareness and funds for the only pregnancy support center in the Lehigh Valley. Use the QR code to donate and select “Bright Hope” under Giving Type.

    How to Support Bright Hope

You can volunteer, donate, or promote Bright Hope. Volunteers help with projects or ongoing services, while donations support the Baby Boutique, fundraisers, and the Divine Resale Boutique. Share Bright Hope posts on social media to raise awareness.

    Items to Donate

The Baby Boutique allows moms to use Baby Bucks earned in parenting classes to get items for their family. Priority items include:

    Diapers (newborn, 4, 5, 6)

    Sensitive wipes

    Formula (Similac Advance)

Other helpful items: baby bottles (4–8 oz.), sippy cups, baby wash/shampoo/lotion, new or gently used clothing (preemie–2T), infant footwear, outerwear, crib sheets, blankets, towels, pacifiers, combs & brushes, diaper bags, Pull-Ups, and adult hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash, deodorant).

  • Backpack Buddies

Since 2012, we have had the opportunity to partner with William Penn Elementary school through the Backpack Buddies Program. This program provides meals and snacks on weekends for students who would otherwise be identified as food deprived. Additionally, the students and their families are supported throughout the year with holiday meals, a summer food pantry and other healthy & fun activities.

  • Family Promise

Family Promise is a national organization with a local chapter serving homeless families in the Lehigh Valley since 2016. NC4 has partnered with them since December 2018, providing housing and resources to help families get back on their feet. Local churches and organizations rotate hosting families, and NC4 Macungie serves as a host site each quarter.

    Get Involved

Contact Lori Miller for information on upcoming volunteer dates, clearances, and training.

Volunteers can participate in many ways: help set up living quarters on the first Sunday of a host week, shop for breakfast and lunch items, host by spending time with guests, cook meals to drop off, stay overnight to provide security and support, tear down living areas the following Sunday, or do laundry of sheets, blankets, and towels.

  • Bethlehem Emergency Shelter

NC4 partners with the Bethlehem Emergency Sheltering Program, a faith-based network providing care and hospitality for the homeless. Overnight shelter is offered at Christ UCC Church (75 E. Market St., Bethlehem) during the coldest months, November through April. Volunteers from multiple churches prepare warm meals throughout the season, and NC4 is committed to providing meals at least two Sundays per month.

    How to Get Involved

You can serve in several ways: Lead Cook, planning the recipe and coordinating ingredients; Kitchen Helper, assisting with meal prep; Dishwasher, keeping the kitchen running smoothly; Shower Monitor, managing shower schedules and supplies; or Donate a Dessert, providing a sweet treat for 10–15 guests.
