Fresh Start Separated & Divorce Support Group
Leader: Jeanine Greener
This group is for individuals facing separation or divorce. While reconciliation is always the hope, it is not always possible. It can be an overwhelming season of isolation, grief, uncertainty, and shame. Despite the statistics, it still seems to be taboo to talk about. I wouldn't wish divorce on my worst enemy, but I wouldn't trade a thing for what I have learned through it. This is designed to be a safe place to share insight and tools to help guide you through this season. You are not alone in this. God is not done with you and this season does not define you, but it will refine you. God may be able to do more in your life through this than He has ever been able to do before. This is just another step in building your testimony. Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30p Starts: May 3, '22 |

Matthew Bible Study | Every Other Tuesday | Evening | Connect Group | Allentown Area | NC4 Bethlehem |
Matthew Bible Study
Leader: Chad Wakeman
The Evental Kingdom: Jesus and the Church in Matthew's Gospel The Gospel of Matthew is a divinely inspired work of genius. It's distinctive treatment of Jesus' life and ministry emblazes a unique signature among the symphony of New Testament literatures. This bible study will engage in a close reading of Matthew's gospel and it's theological distinctives in a socio-historical immersive way: exploring how Jesus' hearers and witnesses would have experienced His Person as Matthew reports. Our central focus will be on the relationship between Jesus' words and works and the significance of agap? love in relation to them. Matthew presents a quite dramatic correlation between Jesus' proclamation and teaching of the Kingdom and his surprising demonstrations of the Kingdom's power: healing, deliverance, miracles, fulfilled prophecy, spiritual warfare, provision, etc. Jesus himself is the Event of the Kingdom, and Matthew consistently stresses that encountering Jesus as Messiah always elicits a response: growing faith or resistant rejection. With Matthew, one focus will be how we, as a church and as individual believers, are called to a growing faith: unifying the word, spiritual gifts, ethics, vocational excellence, and growing character in the courageous and creative love Jesus himself is. So this bible study is designed for those interested in (1) a deep-dive theological, historical, and literary study of foundational biblical literatures, and (2) eager to apply and live out insights mined in this study in the personal and collective tasks of our own time, contexts, and personal lives. |
